Reverend Dr. Alice C. Price
Dr. Alice C. Price was born in Chicago, Illinois, where she lived until the age of nine. She and her immediate family moved to Minneapolis, MN during the early 1960s. After graduating from high school, Minister Price completed a BA in Black Studies at Carleton College in Northfield, MN and a MA in Communications (Broadcast Journalism) from the University of Minnesota. She married in the late 70s and God blessed that union with three children: Angelique, Eric Jr., and Maya.
Minister Price has lived in the St. Louis area for nearly 30 years. After working in the broadcasting industry, she began a career in higher education. She has served as faculty member and chair of the Communications Department at Maryville University, and as an academic dean at St. Louis Community College (SLCC). She earned a Ph.D. in American Studies from St. Louis University in 1998. After retiring from SLCC in December 2003, she became a full-time member of the ministerial staff at Central.
Minister Price has been a disciple at Central since 1988; she has served as a co-youth director, Sunday school teacher, and spiritual development workshop facilitator. She accepted God’s call to the ministry in 2000, and under the dynamic leadership of the Reverend Dr. Robert C. Scott, she became the first female licensed by Central to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In May 2007, Minister Price received a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies, with a focus on Educational Ministry, from Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, MO. Effective fall 2007, she became a part-time faculty member at Eden and a visiting instructor at the Evangelical Presbyterian Seminary in Peki, Ghana.
